A masterless samurai; A wandering warrior

Born in the year 1550 at the borders to the Azim Steppe, Radim was an only child to a pair of hrothgar who had fled Bozja years before. Fleeing east, they settled at the borders of the Azim Steppe and Doma, living a nomadic lifestyle and selling their services as mercenaries. When Radim was old enough to hold a sword at ten summers, he was given the weapon of a fallen warmachina and trained to wield it by his father.Beaten and berated, it was harsh training day in and day out until he could wield even the massive weapon effectively by twelve summers. Once able to wield it, his parents sold his services along with their own for coin to the highest bidder. Fighting for clans of Xaela and Doman merchants alike. Living as a mercenary, paying his coin to continue to live with his parents, Radim spent many years simply living in such a state.It was only when he reached sixteen summers, that he left his home to find his own path. Heartbroken at the disinterested his parents showed at his leaving, he did not return to the steppe for many years. Instead he went eastward, away from the Garleans who had since taken Doma. Instead going to the Ruby Sea and joining with the confederacy. For he had no coin to pay the Ruby Tithe to cross into Kugane, thus did he work his debt off as a mercenary once more.Yet even in this, he found life more fulfilling living as his own man - No longer living with no agency in his own life. A year's work was the deal for his Ruby Tithe, to work for the Confederacy as a mercenary for that year, then be released to Kugane upon the night of his last day. It was a joyous affair for him, finally reaching a city in which he could find himself - And learning many things while there.Seeing the samurai of Kugane pushed Radim to learn new styles of combat, finding a master to teach him and taking to this master as a surrogate father who showed him the care his own family never did. Learning not only how to wield aether in his sword, he also learned to cook, care for himself, and become a more well rounded person under this Raen's tutelage. Upon his graduation to a fully fledged samurai, he did not bid goodbye to his master, living with him as he continued to work as a mercenary out of Kugane.It wasn't until years later, on his Twenty-Seventh summer, that he would be offered a contract he couldn't refuse. Absurdly high pay to simply guard a lalafellan merchant from a far-away land known as "Ul'Dah" a place he had only heard about before. Bidding goodbye to his master, he left with this merchant to guard him, only to find that it was too good to be true. Not only was Radim to guard this merchant, but to begin dealing in illicit trades.It came to a head when Radim was ordered to dishonor himself by slaying someone who had merely insulted the merchant - Something the hrothgar was unwilling to do. His contract broken, Radim was left with only the coin he had been given upfront, and his name smeared by the influential merchant in Ul'Dah, leaving the swordsman in a land he did not know.
